Storyline Idea

I've been thinking about what could get people involved. As many of the stories seem to center around either one person or an invasion. I come up with something to pull in the Omega and the CMC plus anyone else who may have knowledge. This will not be something time stamp planned to every detail.

Story. Poison mother. Someone, sometime sneaks into the Reactor room (not like it's hard.) And starts feeding mother something tasty but end up hurting Mother. The hunt will be finding out how is feeding this to mother, why and how to stop it's effects.

Granted we all know nothing can blow up or destory the station but the idea it might go boom, might get people more involved. I don't know just an idea I'm throwing out to see who is interested in the CMC and Omega groups.

Dylan has a point for crew though.

There's always fair degree of chaos in roleplaying. Some rpg:s can be controlled in some degree like "pen and paper" d&d. Others like scandinavic LARPs are open ended to that degree that gamemaster can't dictate what players decisions will be. Gamemaster deals with consiquences and makes frames to characters play in. Sometimes players do need feedback about their decisions and that means if they expose primus motor of plot CMC can go and whack him off. On plus side NVI is so much hated that people could join the cause relatively easy or turn blind eye to obivous sabotage.

Pretty simple to bypass a patrol with something simple ^_~

People hang out in the reactor ALL the time to get some peace.. Listen to the slow thrum of the core and the occasional breather because people cant stand the smell.. Granted it doesnt have to be a cookie but how do we know mother wont react to certain things? The cookies seem obvious.. thats why their banned imo. *Looks at Oni*

I mean people smoke, eat, drink.. and all of that down there.. and no one tells them no. Even CMC have smoked down there.. or people have done this infront of them and nothing has been said. So who knows.. maybe someone wants to feed mother bread crumbs from the ledge. Whos to think anything more of someone nibbling on a snack when it happens all the time?

Another thing to also remember. Mother herslelf, has shown to lash out if people threaten her. Any xeno tied to her, connected to her, like Akresh, will know who attacked her. Because she knows. They would begin a hunt for the person. Though if used properly, you could use it to pit the CMC and others against the ones they try to protect, the xeno's. They need to find the poisoner/s before the xeno's do to figure out what was used for a cure. The xeno's wont care, they'll be wanting blood.

As for one shot events, I dont know much about them. Mine tend to run between two weeks and a month. Though I dont disavow the minor day long ones happen.

i got to agree with sarukie , the reactor is pritty much wide open to sabatage , mother being poisend is the easy part , the hard part is getting a handfull of key people to simply agree on a go ahead for the plot to start and even this really shouldent be too hard ey , hell it could even be a decent way for some folks "including myself" to let water run under the bridge and make a fresh start with rp at necro as i think this story line really does include every one at different levels , a dying mother causing the station to slowly break down would deffinatly keep the necro crew busy and creates heaps of possible involvement for pritty much any one and every one .

Anyways if nothing else its a fresh aproach with a different angle , it couldent hurt to try could it ?

as for tbones urination poisonifaction ................hmmmm i think at worst mother would only suffer a mild kidney infection or maybe catch a dose of generic space clap , the cookies sound way more deadly ......

Its just a matter of arranging things. The thing people need to realize at times is nothing is always set in stone.. and flexibility is needed at times to make things fun or spark new life into things or even get something rolling. I've done it plenty of times myself, let things slide here and there and it sparks something neat for that person. Flexibility is needed for a place as free form as Necronom..

There's one really important factor here. It's consent-based RP.

A faction leader may say no to certain RP, but that doesn't mean the players have to stop playing it. It means that faction leader isn't going to recognize it. And the faction leaders will generally let their group know that the players in the group can recognize the RP or not as they see fit but that no group action will be taken. It's been done before.

For example, I wanted to partake in some particular RP and CMC wasn't going to allow it. Did it anyway, just didn't have the group involved.

So if there's something you really want to RP, like sabotaging Mother, you can do it. Just organize with friends beforehand and let group leaders know your intent. They're responsible for their groups as -part- of the RP on the station, but you don't have to be in one of the factions to enjoy the RP or partake of it.

But maybe that's just me?

I'd like to say thanks for all the helpful replies here. I know it would take alot of work to put this thing together and the fact I feel this story could bring groups together or against each other might help include people.

So things I need to know now is who are all the active group leaders for Omega,CMC,Crew(Dylan I know) Shit I'll even throw in the NSDF. This way I can talk to each person to see if they would like a go ahead.

KO as much as I could play out this storyline if veto by a group leader it wouldn't be the effect I am working towards. This story idea is something to pull everyone into and build a bridge between them again. I want to RP with a goal at NVI and not be shunned.

So if anyone wishes to be a bad guy go ahead and IM me ingame. Just remember your bad guy most likely will die or have to run away from the station. So if you don't want your main character killed make a new one. Also if the faction leaders could IM me also, to say whether they will allow their group in on the story that would be awesome.

Well I guess I should say something too. Basically I agree with some things said, anyone is free to come up with events and does NOT have to run it through all the groups first.
Cameras and Sensors? I dont see any of those around anywhere. I guess sensors that monitor mothers lifesigns would be okay for scientific reasons, but an automatic camera that prevents people from going there when noone is watching it is ridiculous. If an area is supposed to be guarded, then it must be guarded by a player in person. There is no such thing as "this area is generally protected so nothing can ever happen there".
If theres no CMC around to guard an area, or watch those cameras, then thats an IC fact and basically anything can happen then.
Anyway, I think its a storyidea worth exploring and its good to see you guys discussing it together to make it work. If you need anything from me, just let me know.

Oni, is it possible in second life to get camera feed from somewhere? Like one or two fixed cameras in reactor room or corridor and screen to guard room so one guard who could take look who's walking in reactor section?
